    DESCRIPTION

    Omega-3 acids are among essential or indispensable nutritional factors. In other words, they can not be synthesized by the body and should be provided in sufficient quantities throughout life.

    To maintain a healthy balance, the intake of saturated and unsaturated fats should not exceed the ratio of 50/50.
    The diet structure today is such that the intake of essential fatty acids is extremely small. The basis of the incoming fats are saturated fatty acids and cholesterol.

    Unlike other food fats used in our body primarily as energy suppliers, omega-3 acids are structural components of cell membranes.

    NUTRILITE™ Omega-3 Complex, which contains an optimal ratio of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA – eicosapentaenoic acid and DHA – docosahexaenoic acid), is recommended for adults and children over 14 years of age who include fish and some vegetable oils in their diet less than 1–2 times per week. For people on a low-fat diet. Reduction of fat intake up to 20% in the diet is critical to achieve the required amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Those who use only sunflower oil in their diet, as well as athletes, during intensive training.

    FOOD SOURCES

    From the variety of foods, in the amount sufficient for the body omega-3 acids are only contained in the tissues of cold-water fish (tuna, sardines, salmon, scomber and mackerel). Eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids constitute more than 25% of the total fatty acids of fish oil. Fish fat is unique as it contains omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids with a very long side chain, which is not present in vegetable oils.

    Other sources of omega-3 fatty acids include linseed oil, rapeseed oil, soybean oil and egg yolks.
    Sufficient dietary intake of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids is only possible with daily inclusion of the above-mentioned products in the diet. The deficit is formed when a person eats fish less than 2 times per week. *

    Our bodies use fats obtained from food to create energy, construct nerve cell membranes, produce sex hormones and build cell walls. But there are some fatty acids that have a special role to play. In a sense they are like vitamins, and they were once called “Vitamin F.”

    Like many vitamins they are essential but not synthesized by the body. To receive enough of them, we need to regularly consume certain types of foods,

    namely, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids. Each of them has its own benefits. Currently more than 11 types of Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) have been identified. The most important among them are docosahexaenoic (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic (EPA) acids. DHA is a component in the phospholipids of cell membranes. EPA plays a key role in transmitting neural impulses. They both have a part in the production of hormone-like substances, anti-inflammatory cytokines. These molecules lessen pain, inflammation, bronchial spasms and lower blood viscosity.

    Omega-6 PUFA create substances with the opposite effect. They increase pain, inflammation, bronchospasms and raise blood pressure. Inflammation is a natural defense reaction, and for this reason Omega-6 PUFA are also necessary for the body to work normally. But too many Omega-6 PUFA can cause a cytokine storm, where inflammation becomes uncontrollable and pathological.

    Unfortunately the modern diet often has too much Omega-6 and not enough Omega-3 PUFA. Omega-6 PUFA are easily found in certain cultivated oils such as sunflower oil, flaxseed oil, rapeseed oil and corn oil. Omega-3 PUFA are found in the meat of grass-fed animals, making them more difficult to access. This is how the imbalance can arise. It causes general inflammation, autoimmune responses, allergies, raises arterial pressure and thickens the blood.

    It is important to balance these fatty acids. A food diary can be helpful for this purpose. Our health is directly dependent on the quantity and quality of Omega-3 fatty acids that we consume. Their natural source is fatty fish native to the northern seas.
